PROMOTING EXCELLENCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION: A SPECIAL EU PROJECT FOR TEACHERS

    August 24, 2016

    TEACHEX LOGO

Every single one of us can probably look back and remember this one teacher we had, that made a real impact on us. Usually, this model teacher is someone who took the time to understand our needs, and was able to modify their “grown-up” perspective to our point of view. They gave us a sense of confidence that instilled enthusiasm and motivation to grow, and were also probably full of creative methods that made us love their class.

Undoubtedly, an educational establishment that produces excellent students is composed of excellent professionals.

TEACHEX is a project designed to promote excellence in higher education teaching, and by effect – higher academic performance. The project aims to achieve this meaningful goal by supplying career and technical training for participants, while emphasizing the significant role of academic interaction inside and out of the classroom, and creating sustainable modules for ongoing didactic programs.

Within the project, Centers for Teaching Excellence are established, dedicated to providing continuous vocational education for teachers, relaying the European education approach. By regular training and follow-ups, a consistent frame of reference for academic staff is secured, ensuring participants access to sources enabling continues professional development.

Teaching centers will offer programs designed to provide teachers with leading-edge, innovative learning methods. Focusing on active education – such as teaching via e-learning, designed for improving learning abilities, performance, and driving pupils toward excellence. Furthermore, different units aim to supply tools for better understanding and adapting to student’s professional needs, providing them with the entrepreneurial and problem solving skills they need to meet ever changing career demands.

Another important element of the programs is promoting a wholesome educational environment by improving classroom interaction between students, and students with teachers, attempting to bridge the gap between cultures and generations.

The integration of new learning methods and bettering academic performance rely, among other things, on enhancing professional development among higher education scholars. Teaching Centers aim to afford teachers with the transferable skills they need to adapt to fast-paced professional environments, focusing on internationalization of education and professional networking. The program strives to compile a digital repository containing learning and training methods, and to create an international social network for participants.

Finally, TEACHEX aims to install these programs while establishing routines to assure career and teaching programs are conserved. Introducing techniques for creating sustainable, long lasting educational projects, and supplying methods for evaluating their impact and effectiveness.

By addressing these significant issues, participants work to promote academic and professional excellence while boosting international components in local education institutes.

TEACHEX is Brought by ERASMUS+, a EU program for promoting international cooperation in education, training, youth and sport. Held in seven higher education establishments in Israel, and coordinated by IDC Herzliya, in International collaboration with partners from Belgium, United-Kingdom, Poland, Ireland and the Netherlands.
